Carolina Correa

¡HOLA! I was born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua. I have two handsome sons and two beautiful daughters. We love to travel as a family and to visit new local places. I have a great passion for languages. Although, I only speak Spanish and English, and just greetings in Portuguese, French and Italian (Languages with Latin roots). I have completed an AA in Psychology at Glendale Community College. I am currently taking classes at the Miguel de Cervantes University of Spain through ELE International, (Online). I will be finishing my master’s as a Spanish Teacher in 2027.  Before becoming a full-time teacher, I used to teach Spanish private classes to high school students for five years. This will be my 10th year of teaching as a full-time teacher; teaching Spanish I through Spanish IV, AP Spanish Language and Culture and this will be my first year teaching Latin II. I really enjoy teaching but I especially love teaching high school students. I have witnessed my students’ growth and potential over these past years. I am ready to teach my scholars not only the Spanish or the latin languages but also to help them discover the best that they have within themselves.

Mrs. Curfew was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. During the past 16 years in the 4 schools she has worked at, she has taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Statistics, and AP Calculus AB along with an elective of Marketing. Currently, she is teaching Algebra 2, Statistics, Precalculus, and Keyboarding/Study Skills.

While not teaching, Mrs. Curfew enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and (so far) 2 dogs. Some of her favorite things include otters and all things Disney.

My academic background is in electrical engineering, for which I received my bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. I devoted four years of my graduate studies researching semiconductor material and their application to next-generation solar cells; two of those years were spent at Arizona State University. Along with my graduate research, I was employed for over two years as a teaching assistant for a junior level semiconductor device physics course. The 2024 / 2025 school year will be my second year in full time teaching with Heritage Academy, and I look forward to continuing bringing my heavily-based STEM background to my students. When not teaching in the classroom, you can find me practicing my novice cooking skills, playing guitar and songwriting, listening to music, and spending way too much money at a nearby Zia Records store.

Mrs. Ashley Green is a fifth generation native of Arizona. She was raised in Glendale and currently resides in New River with her Husband Bryan, two sons, Hudson and Easton and their dog Bizzy. Throughout her time in education she was the Department Chair of Performing Arts, an active member in Professional Learning Community and the recipient of Arizona Dance/PE Teacher of the year. Mrs. Green has enjoyed the opportunity to manage well over 30 productions, performances and recruitment tours on and off campus. Ashley is also entering her 10th season with an Arizona based dance company, The Parking Lot Project. She has performed with them in several festivals throughout the valley. In her spare time you can find her on a golf course or a Pickleball court. Some say she is competitive to a fault. Ashley Green has a passion for Dance and Theatre but loves most of all  teaching young scholars how to move and be confident on and off the stage.

I received my B.A. in English Literature from Occidental College in Los Angeles and a master’s from the University of York in England. I’ve been in education for 18 years, most of that time in 7th grade English, but I’ve also taught various subjects in 1st, 4th, 6th, and 8th grades.  Additionally, I’ve spent time working in special education and instructional coaching. Before having a stroke in 2018, I coached JH track and field and directed JH theater performances as well. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my large family, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and binge watching true crime tv.

I was born in Phoenix, where I lived until my family moved to Ohio when I was in middle school.  (I still regard myself as a Midwestern/Arizonan hybrid, which is a fairly common breed out here.)  After high school, I acquired my Bachelor’s Degree in History from Bowling Green State University in western Ohio.  A few years later, I finally made the decision to teach, and earned my MA in Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  I have taught History (US and World), American Government, and Geography in Catholic schools, private schools, charter schools, and public schools, in Ohio, Michigan, and out here in Arizona.  A confluence of circumstances saw a whole new generation of my family move west in 2006.  These past many years in the Valley of the Sun have helped me grow into a more thoughtful and passionate educator, and I am committed to the academic and social well-being of all the young people in my family and in my classroom.

I’m a certified English teacher here at Heritage Academy Pointe. This year will be my 10th year of teaching, and I’m looking forward to making it my best yet! I grew up in New Jersey, and I am an alumnus of The College of New Jersey. My wife Dana and I have three rescued dogs, and we also foster dogs! I enjoy nature, fishing, and making music.

This year marks my eleventh year in education. I earned my bachelor’s degree in education from Arizona State University in 2013. My first years in the classroom, I taught fifth grade. After five years as a fifth-grade teacher, I transitioned to teaching eighth grade English. I am always looking forward to learning and furthering my education. Currently, I am working on my master’s degree in education administration from The University of Phoenix. I am excited to be teaching at Heritage this year. I am ready to challenge our scholars and excited to see them grow academically.

I recently married my High School sweetheart and we are enjoying life with our two dogs! This is my 3rd year in Education as well as being at Heritage. Before joining the new Pointe campus I taught at the Laven campus (Algebra 1 & 2). This will be my first year as an Athletic Director and I am super excited to build our Athletic programs as we start this new chapter here at Pointe! My name is Ms. Perez! I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I’m a Heritage Academy alumni from the Laveen campus. I’m attending Glendale Community College; where I plan on receiving my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Special Education.

Throughout high school, I was in the chamber choir, and chamber band, as well as participated in our school musicals. I love to sing and play the clarinet, alto saxophone, piano, and bass.

Last year was my first year teaching and I loved every moment of it. Music class is a safe space, and I love getting myself and my scholars out of our comfort boxes. I believe EVERYONE can create music, we just have to find our rhythm.

In my free time, you can find me playing volleyball, singing, making music, baking, or hanging out with my family and friends.
